Ephemeral Beauties At the fabulous Kauffman Memorial Garden (Google on the name), just ½ mile from my home, I always find inspiration and solace there. On a windy day the many lovely, intricate fountains revive me with their delicate spray. The garden cat comes around to greet each visitor. He keeps down the mice and rabbit population. Interesting assortments of foliage are always combined like red leaf lettuce and coleus. Sometimes the small tree trunks are painted blue, or the trees are hung with hunks of glittering glass. This garden attracts all sorts of butterflies and on my day of arrival, the Monarchs were everywhere visiting the Blazing Stars and Gayfeathers. I captured this sipping Monarch on Art Spectrum pastel paper using both watercolor and pastels. |
